Two ways to run your class

Both use the same book and dashboard. Choose by the length of your course when you set up the class.

Lite

For a quarter, an intro course, or a shorter class.

  • Chapters 1–8 plus two bonus chapters: setup, sales, expenses, banking and reports, then advanced workflows and advanced company setup
  • Lessons run in Craig’s Landscaping, Intuit’s free sample company
  • No QuickBooks account needed for the lessons
  • Quizzes, exams and progress on your class dashboard

Class setting: Quarter. The class works through chapter 10.

Recommended

Standard

For a full semester or an accounting program.

  • All 16 chapters, adding job costing, inventory, year-end, payroll and the YinYang Graphic Design case study and capstone
  • Students build two companies of their own, Imagine Photography and YinYang Graphic Design, one chapter at a time
  • Assignments checked by the smart grader against the answer key

Requires a QuickBooks Online account for each student. You can get them free.

Class setting: Semester. The class works through every chapter.

Questions teachers ask

Lite or Standard?

Lite fits a quarter or an intro course, and its lessons need no QuickBooks account. Standard fits a full semester and adds job costing, inventory, year-end and payroll, and the work in companies students build themselves: every DIY exercise, plus the YinYang case study and capstone. You choose the course length when you set up a class, and you can change it later.

Do students need QuickBooks?

Not for the Lite lessons. They practice in Craig’s Landscaping, Intuit’s free sample company. Standard has each student build companies of their own, so they need a QuickBooks Online account. Teachers get free Student Trial accounts through Intuit Education and invite each student.

How does grading work?

The smart grader checks supported QuickBooks assignments against the answer key. You see each check, and you can adjust any of them.

Can I try it before I adopt it?

Yes. Open a demo class with sample students and their work. It takes a free account, not a sales call. The Instructor’s Manual and answer keys open once we confirm you teach, usually within one business day.

Does it work with my LMS?

Yes. It connects over LTI 1.3, the standard Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard and D2L support, so students launch the book from your course and scores post back to your gradebook. We set it up and test it with your LMS administrator. You can also download chapter test banks to import.

What if QuickBooks looks different from the book?

The 2026 edition is written for the current QuickBooks Online. Intuit updates it often, so if a step looks different, students can report it from the reader and we check it.
