A seat gives one student the full book for 12 months from the day it's first given out. You can use your seats in any of your classes. They're under Seats in the Teacher Dashboard sidebar.
How a student gets one
- Automatically. When a student joins your class and you have a seat free, they get one.
- By hand. On Seats, pick a class. Everyone without a seat is already ticked. Choose Give N students a seat.
If you tick more students than you have seats, nothing is used up. The page tells you how many to untick or buy.

Each student on the list shows Has a seat or No seat. Buy more seats (or See seat pricing before your first order) lets you buy more at a volume price.
When the 12 months are up, or a student leaves
- After 12 months, the student can only read the front matter and chapter 4 until you give them a new seat or they get their own plan.
- Removing a student from your class doesn't free their seat. Use Release seat on your Teams page to take it back and give it to someone else. It keeps its original end date.

Questions we get about this
- A student joined and I had no seats left. What happens?
- They still join. They can read the front matter and chapter 4 until you give them a seat or they buy their own plan.
- Can I get a refund for seats I did not use?
- Unused seats are refundable within 14 days of purchase. Contact us with your order number.
- I bought seats but the page shows none available.
- Check you are signed in to the account that bought them. Only that account can give them out.
