Open a class and you see a row of tiles, then three tabs: Needs you, By student and By chapter. Here is what each number counts.
The tiles

| Students | Students who have joined. Invitations not yet accepted are not counted. |
| Avg completion | The share of chapters each student has finished, averaged. A student who hasn't started counts as zero. |
| Reading | How far into the book the class has read, on average. Underneath: total reading time for the whole class. |
| Avg score | Each student's best score on each practice quiz, plus every chapter exam attempt, averaged. A dash means no scores yet. |
| At risk | Students under 50% complete and inactive for 14 days or more. Both have to be true. |
| Needs you | Questions and messages from students that no one has read yet, written answers to review, grades you're holding, and uploads that couldn't be read. |
When a chapter counts as finished
A chapter counts once the student has read it through, ticked every hands-on step, and passed its practice quiz with 80% or better. Smart-graded QuickBooks work does not affect completion.
Completion only counts the chapters every plan includes. Standard-only chapters and the appendices never count, so a class that finishes every counted chapter reads 100%.
The By student tab

Click a heading to sort. The filters above the table (Active, Not joined, At risk, Ace) narrow the list. Ace is a 90% or better average over two or more graded results, with three quarters of the course done. View progress opens a student's full record.
By chapter, and the trends page
By chapter shows one card per chapter with the class's reading, quiz, exam and smart grader results. Click a card to see each student.
View classroom trends, under the class name, opens the charts: score distribution, weekly active students, chapter completion, top performers, and the at-risk students by name. Every Avg score and the score distribution count only students with two or more graded results: one aced quiz is a result, not a record. Top performers lists students with two graded results, a finished chapter and something done in the last 14 days, ranked half on their average score and half on their Points.
When a number looks wrong
- Completion is 0% but the class is working. It moves a whole chapter at a time, while Reading moves every page. See Why completion shows 0% when students are working.
- Reading and quiz numbers stopped moving. Check Progress tracking in Class settings. While it's off, the reader records nothing for this class, and the gap isn't filled in later.
- You hid chapters and completion did not change. Hiding chapters changes what students see, not how completion is counted.
