Open a class and choose Class settings. Each setting saves the moment you change it. They only affect students in this class, and none of them can open a chapter a student's plan doesn't include.
The settings are grouped by what they decide: The book, Chapter quizzes, Chapter exams, and Exercises and written answers. Quizzes, exams and exercises each have their own answer setting. Each setting is one line showing its current value; open a line to change it.

| Class teaches | Standard (where every class starts) is every chapter. Lite stops after chapter 10, and later chapters leave the reader and the file list. The Class type switch (Lite or Standard) at the top of the class's page in your Instructor Dashboard sets the same thing in one click, and the chapters and completion follow it. It never changes what you or your students own. |

Strict shows no answer values, though students still see which checks they failed and how to fix them. Guided (where new classes start) shows answers once they have tried. Open adds a downloadable Crosscheck Trial Balance and is meant for students working without a class. |

Defaults for new classes
Your class defaults, above your list of classes, presets Smart grading for graded exercises, Classic reader only and Track student progress for every class you create next. It never changes a class you already have.
A student in two of your classes
They get the settings of the class they joined most recently. If the wrong class is winning, remove them from the one that no longer applies.
